BIM Shapes a Pivotal and Circular Road Design in Wuhan
The highway project spans approximately 20km with manifold nodes. The road covers 13 important nodes, including 3 interchanges, 6 grade separation bridges, 4 grade intersections (with reservation), 6 flyovers (2 grand bridges), 2 underpass railway crossings and the full municipal pipe network (feed-water, rain water, polluted water, heat and power).

BIM Implementation Planning
In order to integrate multiple sources of terrain data, produce high-quality 3d models, generate quantity, and conduct the collision check, this project adopted building information modeling (BIM) technology to address technical challenges and provide better solution.

i. Platform Establishment
ii. Transportation Simulation Analysis
On the basis of the Building Information Model, we set up transportation and signal lights timing scheme at every node, simulated real traffic condition on the road, analyzed reasonable transportation planning to further improve the signal lights timing scheme.
iii. Comprehensive Collision Check
By utilizing the BIM technology, we conducted comprehensive collision check on models including roads, pipe network, bridges and piers, discovered collision parts and investigated design problems visually and efficiently to achieve design optimization.
iv. Construction Progress Simulation
The BIM data model and relevant data in construction helps the three-dimensional simulation of the construction process so as to facilitate the construction organization scheme and provide the basis of decision-making for contractors and developers.
