The programme brought together SCAL representatives and construction industry stakeholders to explore emerging technologies, exchange industry insights and gain first-hand exposure to the application of artificial intelligence (AI), Building Information Modelling (BIM) and smart construction technologies across major infrastructure project developments.

As a key contractor industry association in Singapore, SCAL plays an important role in connecting industry stakeholders and supporting the development of the local construction sector. The learning exchange reinforced the shared commitment of Glodon and SCAL to strengthen industry collaboration, encourage technology adaptation and support contractors in navigating the evolving digital construction landscape.

Exploring the Future of Digital Construction

The programme featured presentations and solution showcases by Glodon, highlighting how digital technologies can support construction workflows across the project lifecycle.

Sessions included demonstrations of QuantifAI, Glodon's AI-powered quantity take-off solution; Gsite, its Common Data Environment (CDE) project management solution; and AI Smart Tower Crane's remote-controlled operations for greater productivity and safer construction sites. Together, these solutions showcased how digital technologies can support different stages of the construction project lifecycle, from quantity measurement and project coordination to intelligent equipment management on site.

The exchange also provided an opportunity for participants to discuss practical challenges facing contractors in adopting digital solutions and explore how AI, integrated digital platforms and smart construction technologies can support greater productivity, cost efficiency, safer site operations and more informed decision-making.

Learning from Benchmark Start Construction Projects

As part of the programme, the delegation visited two major construction developments in Guangzhou to gain first-hand insights into how digital technologies and smart construction practices are being applied to complex, large-scale projects.

The first visit was to the Campus Expansion and Renovation Project of Guangzhou Municipal Party School, a major municipal development spanning approximately 131,000 square metres. Located in a densely populated urban area, the project faces unique challenges in managing construction noise, environmental impact and site safety amid nearby residential communities, schools and hospitals.

The project showcases innovative approaches to smart construction and environmental management, including a large-scale, approximately 9,000-square-metre air-supported enclosure designed to mitigate construction noise and environmental impact. Other applications include intelligent ventilation and environmental controls, BIM-enabled design and construction coordination, AI-powered visual monitoring and automated safety inspections, as well as an integrated digital command centre for site management.

The delegation also visited the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine Project in Nansha, a major healthcare infrastructure development with an approximate floor area of 160,400 square metres. The project highlights the application of BIM for multidisciplinary coordination, AI-enabled safety monitoring, intelligent lifting equipment and integrated digital construction site management.

Together, the visits provided practical perspectives on how digital technologies can support construction efficiency, improve site safety and address complex project management challenges. They also demonstrated how smart construction practices can be adapted to different project environments, from densely populated urban developments to large-scale healthcare infrastructure.

Strengthening Industry Collaboration Through Real-World Application

The learning exchange brought together industry dialogue, technology sharing and real-world project exposure, providing SCAL representatives with opportunities to explore how digital construction is being applied across major developments in China.

Through demonstrations of QuantifAI, Gsite and Smart Tower Crane, alongside visits to benchmark projects at the Guangzhou Municipal Party School and the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, participants gained insights into the role of AI, BIM and integrated digital platforms supporting construction workflows, site safety and project coordination.

Beyond technology demonstrations, the programme strengthened engagement between Glodon and SCAL's contractor network, creating opportunities to exchange perspectives on digitalisation challenges, understand contractors' operational needs and identify potential areas for future collaboration.
