China Digital Building Summit Pushes for Systemic Transformation in the Construction Industry

The China Digital Building Summit 2024, held on May 24-25, brought together experts and industry leaders to explore the transformative potential of AI in driving systemic digitalization across the construction industry.
Organized by a consortium of leading institutions, the event included expert panels, experience sharing, and technological showcases on hot topics such as AI in construction, new productivity, systemic digitalization, digital transformation, and digital construction sites.
Yuan Zhengang, CEO of Glodon Company Limited, in his keynote address, highlighted the importance of digital transformation targeting refined management in the construction industry. He emphasized that the essence of digitalization lies in data, connectivity, and algorithms. (He noted the essence of digitalization is data, connectivity, and algorithms.) The complexity of construction management is reflected in its high degree of specialization, collaboration, uniqueness, and complexity. (When faced with complex problems, a systematic and integrated solution becomes necessary. Yuan also stressed the need for a project-centered, data-driven management system to achieve successful digital transformation.) In addition to the main sessions, the conference featured over ten thematic forums, focusing on digital construction sites, infrastructure, cost management, housing design, municipal design, state-owned enterprise digital transformation, and supply chains. Key discussions included leveraging AI and BIM technologies to enhance lean management, cost control, and productivity across various construction sectors. Practical case studies, including the Glodon Smart Construction and South China Headquarters project, were also shared. These sessions provided high-level insights, policy interpretations, and practical solutions to drive digital transformation and high-quality development in the construction sector.
For 15 years, the China Digital Building Summit has been the hub for tackling digital transformation in construction. This high-profile event convenes global experts to address industry challenges and empower sustainable development.
